PostSubject: New Tier Lists Released!   Thu Oct 08, 2009 3:28 am

Direct copy and paste from smogon from these links: New UU & New OU

New UU:
Quote :
UU undergoes a major overhaul. Not only Alakazam, Rhyperior and Umbreon enter the UU list due to having fallen from OU and Roserade leaves the list to go to OU (see the new OU list thread), but certain Pokemon go down from UU to NU and others graduate from NU to UU!

Without further ado, say goodbye to:

Charizard, Magmortar, Nidoqueen and Porygon2!

And please welcome:

Aggron, Drifblim, Gardevoir and Magneton!

New OU:
Quote :
welcome a new Pokemon in OU, Roserade!

And sadly, we say goodbye to three Pokemon: Alakazam, Rhyperior and Umbreon.

Edit: I suspect Aggron and Mismagius will be OU next tier change =].

Edit2: Scizor is still OU, it was a joke =].

I'm sort of surprised that you managed to beat ixion to the Tier Updates, though thanks for posting them!

When I was reading through, I thought "Dang! What a shame about the demotion of Rhyperior, Alakazam, Umbreon and Sciz...WAIT A SECOND!! SCIZOR?! UU?! Is someone mad?! Boy's gotta be joking about Scizor surely!". LOL! Razz

Although it's a shame at about Rhyperior, Alakazam and Umbreon, it's not all bad - at least UU battles will be even more interesting with its new additions! Though, I do think that they should have dropped to BL and not UU... I'm not surprised that Drifblim and Aggron have moved up a tier. They are both cool pokemon and I have seen them used in battles a lot more over the past few weeks.

I don't think Alakazam, Rhyperior and Umbreon should have dropped to BL instead of UU Chris. Pokemon should never drop from OU straight to BL as this will only lead to the old, rather enormous and "wrong" BL tier we used to abide to. Pokemon dropping from OU should ALWAYS go straight to UU, and if it is proven to be too dominant and overwhelming for UU, it will be tested for suspect and go to BL if necessary, if not, even better, we would have dodged a bullet and not have placed a Pokemon in the wrong tier. No harm done in either outcome and is the way to go for "perfect" (We should know that tiers CANNOT be perfect in an ever changing meta-game) tiers.

Of course this is up for discussion.

Yea getting Head Smash has made Aggron very popular with good reason. It's main stab (before HGSS was Stone Edge) has increased power by 50% with virtually no drawbacks. Although not as metagame changing as Bullet Punch Scizor, this will impact the OU gamw and with Aggron's fairly good resistances, it can come in quite easily and Head Smash things left right and centre.

Haha what scizor no OU anymore?I think this may confuse some people...
IMO it gets even better since it gains Bug Bite which gets STAB and technician boost, not to mention it can steal your berry and consume it!

Most of these updates were total crap to be fair.

Charizard, Magmortar, Nidoqueen and Porygon2 are some of the most used and quite powerful UU's.

Actually they clearly weren't used all that much since Pokemon's tiering are based on their usage. Porygon2 was used a lot in OU, but hardly used much in UU, thus it dropped down to NU.

I thought the tiers were based on how good Pokes were, not how much they were used xD Thanks for accidently clearing that up for me Boy xD
I'm surprised that it wasn't used in UU much actually, seeming that it's used in OU =/

The only reason Pory2 is used lots in OU is because of its Trace ability, which means it can counter Pokemon like salamence, gyarados, jolteon, vaporeon, Flygon (locked in EQ) etc. There aren't that many good abilities to trace in UU, which is why its not used as often as OU.
