PostSubject: Buddy Program?   Sun Jan 15, 2012 5:11 pm

What if new members were given a "Buddy" that could help introduce them to the forums, show or tell them what there is around here, and give them someone to ask questions? They wouldn't even have to be assigned, it would be more like volunteer work with the "Buddy" introducing themselves on the new members "introduce yourself" page. I feel like this might help retain people on the site if they have a friend right from the start who can help them out.

Anyone else's thoughts? Critique away! Very Happy

That's what my initial thought was too but I didn't want to discriminate with "Big Brother" haha. I think it could really work and help out if we get enough volunteer support. This even opens up a "Buddies Tournament " where your both on a team fighting against other Buddy teams

hmmm its worth a shot... but i dont think we don't have that many active veterans or people who arent buisy enough... i mean you want people who know everyone and everything that there is to do with "rayquaza forum" and still have time to explain it all....

but to expand your buddy idea, i think we should also extend this influence into battling... as most newbies (not saying all just most) are no0bs at battling and some of our battlers are actually top notch, if they offered to be a "Big Brother/Big Sister" they can help them understand about battling techniques and create good combinations... (i referain from mentioning IVs and EVs since it has come to my attention that it is a dieing art...)

Teaching of battle strategy and techniques sounds awesome, almost like mentoring! And Ev and Iv training/breeding iis a dying art?!?! Since when? I had no clue. I myself have been trying the last couple of weeks to do both of those.

I agree with this completely, it would make newcomers feel more welcomed and as a Professor it is my duty to teach people and maybe take on an appretise to teach in the arts of Pokemon. Very Happy

well if we are going to do a mentoring sytem we need to get an organised way of doing this we cannot just let it flop and it does what it will... i think we should propose this to the admins (granted that they havent seen this yet) and that we we can use the whole of the forum to our advantage in created a decent, organised structure where all will benefit... not just some flop strung together....

Thank you guys for the support, i didn't think this idea would get much buzz honestly. I agree that in order to get this to work we need to get the Admins involved and have some sort of way to keep things together and working. I also wouldn't mind mentoring myself.
