Erm to celebrate persian new year that would be kinda difficult as persia does not exist anymore...

Ok and the reason why people in America care about it is because, America is a multination country, meaning American's today are not really ancient Americans, unless you are native american, then you can argue, but then why would you care about other things.

And the reason America doesn't celebrate it and make a big deal about things like "Persian New year" as you put it, is because there is not a growing population of the minority, if look at the people celebrating chinese new year is most likely going to be chinese, and because there are alot of Chinese people in America it becomes stronger in the public eye, I'm sure if you look hard enough there are a few people who celebrate "Persian New year" but because there is not alot of people the media and the public eye do not see it, also to be respectful people just go along.

But its like China wishing the West Merry Christmas, its respect for their culture and beliefs...

also there are political reasons as to not make any of the big powers angry.

Persia is an accepted name but it is incorrect, as the country was only called Persia by the west when they had the Achaemenian Empire, which like the Habsburg Empire it was a collection of different nationalities, but the head country itself was always called Iran. Then the empire broke up. In 1938 Iran made a statement to not to refer to the country as Persia but as Iran, which means "Aryan".

So yes you could call it Persia but that means you were living before 1938.

we call the country iran, but we call ourselves persian/iranian. We can say we're persian, but we rarely refer our country to as Iran (:
