PostSubject: AK's Take: Regenerator combo, Defensive Landorus Sacred Form, Quick Feet Jolteon, Technician Breloom   Wed Jun 27, 2012 11:21 pm

with BW 2 coming out, this means that amoonguss is accessed to its DW ability regenerator. although Slowbro>slowing in OU (to Sam physical dragons), amoonguss can act as a def and spdef. a recommendation would be sp.def amoonguss + Slowbro in rain. scald power boost and fire attack weakened. both get regenerator, access to recovery, eg Giga. drain + slack off. Def amoonguss with spdef slowking, with dragon tail to phase opponents into tentacruels toxic spikes. Lastly, Tangrowth +Slowking completely wall terrakion, keldeo, latios, and sleep powder cripples scarf mence, a long with hp on Tangrowth. (recommended.)

you should definitely have politoed on your team, keep it as a live as possible to win weather wars. NOTE: If you use ALL these regenerator pokes in one team a long with politoed, your last Pokemon shall be keldeo with secret sword, NOT SACRED SWORD, the only Pokemon who is not walked by bliss sy.

Now on to Landorus Sacred Form. with the ability intimate, Landorus T makes a great wall. Set: 220EV Hp 252 Spd 32 Atk @Leftovers Knock Off , Earthquake , Stealth rock, Hodden Power Ice / RockSlide (Jolly/Naive nature) The spd evs are there to knock off choiced and life orb Pokemon. this walls offensive scissor, Lucario, Choice scarf mence dnite, and other powerhouse physical attackers like terrakion, and hp will do a nice chunk to breloom. hp ice is there weather you want your Landorus to hit dragon types harder as well as other Landorus (normal form
) and Gliscor. with a base attack of 145, the 32 attack evs are there to 2 Hko a standard Gliscor, which can be a threat with swords dance + b punch, leaving you no choice to eq and to not knock off iron plate/life orb.

Quick Feet Jolteon is a recent Dw ability now available. even a modest Jolteon, holding a toxic orb at 252 sp.atk and 252 spd a long side thunder/thunderbolt volt switch shadow ball Hp ice/grass is the faster than any scarfer in the whole metagame, and is the second fastest Pokemon in the whole meta game without a speed boost eg agility / ability speed boost / automize / rock polish etc. (the first is unburden accelgor, reaching as high as 854 speed. Jolteon overall is a great Pokemon. but toxic orb can whittle it down. although Jolteon is strong, 350 sp atk is still not as great as you think. on a brighter side, Jolteon can demolish scarf salamence and Dd dnite non multinscale range. toxic orb Jolteon must be played with care, and it's not always the best idea. this Jolteon is a revenge killing Jolteon,

the second is a sweeping Jolteon. this one is a bit risky. quick feet jolt, 252 spatk and spd, modest but his time choice specs. why? because when your opponent sends out tentacruels and sets a layer on toxic spikes, one layer of t spikes on jolt can live to sweep just about everything on you opponents team, and the sweeping is easier once the volt absorb/lightning rod pokes and ground types are gone. a specs quid feet Jolteon gets it to 525 spatk and 718 spd, now those are über looking stats! watch out for body slam jirachi and other t wavers. cuz if Jolteon gets paralyzed, it's over.

With Technician, Breloom becomes another scizor. Having mach punch, stab technician boosted choice band, it can ohko everything that doesnt resist it, or nearly ohko even bulkier pokemon. choice band breloomk is not prefered because if breloom cannot ohko it can get ohkoed itself due to its frail ness. scizor is a better tech band beause it has access to uturn.when breloom spores, it can then swords dance. if its adamant and life orb/fist plate mach punch can really pach a punch. with bullet seed , breloom can finish off bulky pokes.

I'm pretty sure it will. paralyze lowers your speed no matter what..it happened with quick feet ursaring :S. if there is a possibly in BW 2 it's diferent , paralysis is still not the best ststus for it

Yeah Ive been seeing amoonguss alot along with his partners slowbro and heatrans. Im currently running sub-3 attacks expert belt hydreigon for situations like that.

Ironically with the skyrocket attack, Lando-T works better as a defensive pivots. The original landorus much better choice if running an offensive one manily because of the 101 base speed, meaning you can outspeed top threats like mence, volcanrona, haxorus and hydreigon.

Although its a great defensive pivot, this set is outclassed by gliscor because gliscor usually runs defensive Evs and investments, have recovery moves as well as double leftys thanks to posion heal, can easily switch in breloom/amoonguss, absorbs the status and sets up SD or whatever on them. Also it makes great use of protect to scout if rotom/lando are choiced. Not to mention that Gliscor can safely switch into physical jirachis without having to worry about the body slam para.

Before you make a comment saying intimidate makes it "bulkier", Intimidate only works upon swtiching in, so therefore its defenses isnt consistent and intimidate doesnt work on pokes thats behind a sub. So yeah it cant switch in on sub Terrakion.

Basicly an offensive set is outclassed by its original form and defensive set is pretty much a copy of a gliscor. Sadly to say that gamefreak doesnt give Lando-T a promotion like his two friends.

Orb quick feet jolteon is actually pretty unqiue, I like it.

PS: Hp ice fails to ohko original landorus..

Landorus T will come in before terrak has a chance to sub, and also Lando T with Mac Hp takes care of Landorus . don't forget with 306 speed it can knock off items fast, which is important. it can knock of scissors band and lando's scarf, Gliscor can't really touch Landorus of its not holding ice fang, plus, Landorus T isn't for taking of Gliscor. Hp ice is still better, he comes in to intimidate Salamance while locked into outrage and boom Hp ice

I think you are overglorifying the power of "intimidate" and undervaluing the benefits of recovery.

What makes Gliscor a better option is the ability to recover loss HP and have consistent bulk not just the ones it switches into. To prove it I just ran some calcs:

Mence Vs Lando-T : 252 -1 Atk Salamence Outrage vs 252 HP/0 Def Landorus-T: 38.48% - 45.55% (minus 1 for intimidate)

Lando fails to kill mence with hp ice: 0 SpAtk Landorus-T Hidden Power Ice vs 0 HP/0 SpDef Salamence: 76.13% - 90.63%

This proves that lando will take 2 outrages before killing mence off with hp ice, meaning lando will have around 15-20% HP left after mence is dead. Because of the lack of recovery, you cannot regain those lost hp. Tbh its not really consider "walling" when your left with a 15% ish poke.

Second example is Terrakion:

252 -1 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Stone Edge vs 252 HP/0 Def Landorus-T: 46.6% - 54.97%

You just took 46-54% off stone edge! meaning if theres stealth rocks on field, you CANNOT switch into a Terra.

Gliscor can perform both better in both of this scenario because, as stated earlier, they are mostly defensive invested and can regain the lost HP via poison heal/roost.

I think I've mistaking, lando t should have def evs. lando t with 263 speed is enough. don't forget it's 145 base attack Allen, also knock off is viable. I just thought of t making max speed so it. e lie a support starmie but I guess it shoul me more like a intimidate gyarados. I'd put max def, near Max Hp, and some defense. Landorus t is to knock off dragons and ware ten down, not ohko them. stone est is a better option for my dragons, hp ice is just for Landorus and Gliscor. but again, Landorus T against Gliscor isn't a good matchup. obviously no Pokemon is perfect, they all have a Pokemon that hey couldn't beat against eg scissor vs heatran

I think your missing a point here, and that is the value of recovery. Recovery is almost imparative for all defensive pokemon and seperates them from being good and not so good.

Think about the underrated defensive pivots like Tangrowth, Cresselia, and Amoonguss(before regenerator). All of these pokes are amazing walls and does really well in OU, Tangrowth was excellent during the excadrill/Garchomp meta, defensive Cressellia can safely switch in on most terrakions and Amoonguss is simply a great wall and has the best move in game -Spore. But none of these guys are in OU or even come close to be, (Tang is RU, Cress was prolly RU and Amoongus is NU! lol) The lack of reliable recovery is keeping these guys from being at a higher tier. (synthesis/Moonlight is bad because sand and rain are so prominent in OU).

Its silly to think that recovery has no effect on tiering. Imagine Skarm without roost, it only can switch into dnite once, or Blissey without recovery, special attackers like latios and hydreigon will decimate it. And this is the reason why gliscor does the job better than lando-T. Not to mention that Gliscor can easily come in on Breloom without fearing the spore and threaten it out.

About the 145 base attack, if you think about all the pokes that it hits, (heatran, jirachi, terrakion, Lucario, Dragon-flying) Gliscor can easily beat these guys with ease so the extra high attack is really irrelevant.

Techiloom would be very, very threatning if only technican was released a year ago. Think back to type of teams around this time last year, mostly generic sand teams with the combination of Tyranitar, Excadrill, Garchomp, Scizor Rotom etc. All of these are ohko by breloom after a SD.

Nowadays with rain teams, genies, the newly amooguss as well dragonites and salamence, its hard for breloom to function at its fullest potential. Althought Breloom will be a threat and mostly stay in OU, I dont think its nowhere near as good as scizor.

I agree if Breloom Technician was released before BW 2 and The sand abusers going uber, it wouldve been much more useful on a team. Nowadays you see a genie/ scizor on almost every team, which Breloom can't handle.
