PostSubject: What a real competitive team looks like.   Wed Apr 24, 2013 12:44 pm

It became apparent to me that some of you guys here doesnt know what a great team looks like. You cant play original and win battles in today metagame mainly because with PO and showdown where millions of battles are played every week, players are tougher, and new strategies are found. Rmr back in the days when people think flygon and kingdra is good? Now they are considered one of the worst dragon. Top teams today dont really have much of a counter. Today im gonna show you guys a real top team, I used this team in the SPL and had great success with it, but before ill give a little background about the team.

The team is base around a banded TTAR and Scarf Keldeo core. This core was created by one user name "speedhaxxy or Superhax" or whatever, doesnt matter you prolly wont hear from him again, hes just a one hit wonder. One january day, this user made an RMT on smogon looking for help with his team, ok typical, but what he said in 2 sentences change the way people play sand offense.

Basically what he said was banded TTAR traps the pokemon that prevents keldeo from sweeping and thats very true because theres only 6 pokemon in metagame that prevent scarf keldeo from sweeping- they are Jellicent, Lati@s, Celebi, Slowbro/Starmie, Ammoongus, all of those pokemon bar ammongus gets raped by banded ttars pursuit, thus allowing keldeo to go for a clean sweep. Funny thing is hes just a random and had no idea that it will get this popular.

Right now most sand team you see is using this core even the top players. If this was a business this guy would become a multi-millionaire. (if i can find that RMT ill post it, but its just a shitty team, making many people think that this guy doesnt have much knowledge about the metagame and this idea was just pure luck)

Anyways onto the team,

Tyranitar (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 180 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge

Keldeo-R @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Secret Sword
- Surf
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 184 SDef / 88 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch

Scizor (F) @ Iron Plate
Trait: Technician
EVs: 8 HP / 252 Atk / 248 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Superpower

Gliscor (F) @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Facade

Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 216 SAtk / 40 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Bascially TTAR rapes the pokemon that prevents keldeo from sweeping, trap them by using pursuit and keldeo should have a easy day.

The next 2 is rotom and scizor, one of the best partners in crime. The common pokes that switch into scizor are hippowdown, gliscor, donphan, skarm, gyrados and heatran and those pokes doesnt like Rotom at all. And the pokes that can switch into rotom doesnt like scizor at all such as celebi, Latias, Ferrothorn and amoongus (gastrodon is one of the few that can switch into rotom and doesnt mind scizor). Rotom is also one of the best pokemon to break down physical walls, thus allowing SD scizor to sweep.

As a sand team you need to have a fighting resist else terrakion, lucario rapes. So gliscor is the poke of choice here. With high defenses it can take on SD scizor as well. Toxic orb means it can switch into spores. Sub + toxic orbs allow it to outstall rotom hydopumps if you are lucky. It can also sub and sets up SD on poke such as ferrothorn and proceed to rape.

The last poke is celebi, it is used to check pokemon such as keldeo, conkeldurr. It also have access to stealth rocks which is a huge plus for the team.

Here is how to counter all of the OU list. They are in ABC order, I think this is what people need to do if they want to build a good team.

There are about 7 theme teams in the metagame with little to no weakness. Theres a formula to building solid teams and its not hard to make one. I might post another theme team later to showcase.

Pokemon isnt about team building as most solid teams has been made already, its just minor changes to your personal likings. Pokemon is about how you are at reading situations and knowing what your opponent next move is. This leads to knowing your opponents level of thinking, overprediction is NOT an excuse for losing.
